I'm in the market for a .45 muzzleloader in halfstock, octagonal barrel with pistol grip and weight under 7 lb. Something along the lines of the discontinued Traditions Pioneer rifle (which was not avaialable in .45). Petersoli has a few entries in this line but w/o pistol grip. I am capable of making such a rifle but I have too many projects going now to devote the time it takes to produce a nice piece.

Any info out there that would be helpful? I keep watching the gun auction sites and have found a few of the Tradition Pioneer rifles but they're all .50 cal. Gun will be used as a light weight target rifle.

Maybe it would be better to buy the Tradition Pioneer rifles in .50 caliber from a gun auction site and then buy a .45 caliber drop-in replacement barrel from someone like Green Mountain.

This way you could have exactly what you want.

I've had that in mind but couldn't locate a drop-in barrel in .45 for the Traditions. I just emailed them (GM) to see if they could provide me with one. I just aquired a Pioneer from a fellow on one of the auction sites so mayby it will all come togather soon. Would like to do some long range target shooting with it so any leads on good information in this area would be appreciated.

Thanks...

Connor
