The turn-off barrel pistol, like the boxlocks or the Queen Anne, had a darn good seal in the barrel since the ball would be compressed a bit when the barrel was screwed back on after loading.

On a boxlock or a classic Queen Anne (integral-breech lock), there is no seam between lockplate and breech where moisture can creep into the vent, so if the frizzen (or cap) is well sealed with wax or grease it seems like the charge would be viable for quite some time.

Does anyone out there have any knowledge or experience with this?
