Thanks Herb - some back action rifles treat that area a bit too abruptly making the stock look "bent" at an angle rather than letting the lock flow towards the front. :winking:

Not sure how long the "shadow line" has been used but it was quite common in the mid to late 1800's as was checkering in the wrist area... something I still need to do to finish the rifle. :imo:
