I found a disc and watched it on a 12 ft by 7ft screen. The led projector only £129 on eBay uk magic. You see so much more action in detail. There were a lot of flashes from flint pans so they might not have been rubber nor did I see any rifles in detail which was disappointing. I’ll watch it again. Historic or not it portrays the horrors of Indian fighting life and death. A Great film
The rubber firearms were used for whacking over peoples heads , India had a large muzzle loading manufacturing industry , making replicas for the movie industry , I have seen a batch of Bess's which would not produce a spark no matter how it was tried to harden them and ended up with electronic igniters to set them off . If you have seen Black Beard you would have seen some of these in action .

Ha ha that’s Bollywood for you I actually have an Indian made flintlock action I scrapped from an Indian made blunderbuss after adding epoxy to hold parts together it actually sparks

managed to catch a spark on my 1810:20 east India lock. Made in er Birmingham England ???? Oh and my own chips of English flint

Pistols : so this is what they might have carried it’s around 1770. Queen Anne with bayonet. Probably only for civilians as it’s not robust enough for military. But it sets the scene for the period of that time just 25 years late from 1750 lock marked “Remes”

I have a theory that his guns are the better for that fact. He is faithful to the concept, rather than being hide bound. I love reproductions, but at some point it's like copying art: a great and impressive exercise of skill, but totally lacking in vision or originality.

When I was a kid I was really into Marvel comics. And I always hated new artists that changed my favorite characters. But being much older now, I may not favor their work, but I do think they are entitled to creative license.

I do love Kibler's guns. Unbelievably superb.
I do a bit of art. Like Bob Ross but I copy several artists and by this learn their skills gradually form my own work. It’s the same with copying guns, reproductions, but I do my own thing as it make me happy but my friend up in Maine says I make ugly guns ha ha. I just don’t care. Ha ha. Either way if you make things it’s very therapeutic. Any fool can buy stuff Mind you for a Sharps I would buy a Shilo any day , most Sharps I see at London auctions are a bit rough to say the least

enjoy super forum. One of the best

I so look forward to the day when someone finally posts a pic of their Killdeer rifle.
Nothing against all the history info and pics of historically accurate rifles, but l keep hoping someone will post a pic of their copy of the movie rifle. Gotta be some lying around someplace.

Did the Indians have rubber axes nobody had mentioned that And the Indians had no bows and arrows. Who gave them guns. Was it the french Or was it the film producer as it made more smoke and fun. Haha🤨🤣

Banjo and muzzleloaders! Hit jus’ don’t git no better’n that! 👍

If you Google Last Of The Mohicans Bloopers or mistakes you will find dozens of nit picking little mistakes in continuity , there are a lot of nitpickers out there and they seem to be watching movies one frame at a time
Very true. When I was a kid I used to get quite bothered by movies with inaccurate guns. Now I just chalk it up to me being too invested in fictional portrayals of things that have literally no bearing on my real life. As a gunseller though, I do get bothered every time a customer asks "what type of hand-pistols" we have in stock. That one... that one chaps me every time. I could care less if someone says clip and means magazine. I don't even get bothered when someone calls FMJ shells "target ammo". But, really... hand-pistols?

"I don't shoot a blackpowder for any recognition or notion of period correctness, but i do know for me which gives me the feeling of being a part of nature, shaking the shackles of society and satisfying my need for adventure and the sense of wanderlust."

You and I both brother.

Hello from cold uk. Sorry I get carried away. At 78 i am sticking to flintlocks. Got around 20 guns from 450-400 double to flintlocks. This last year I did up a 12 bore percussion cape rifle from holts auction like bidding on rusty ones only £860 At beginning of year I had two spare L&R flintlocks and decided to have ago af a double after watching utube British gun makers i soldered the tubes and ribs together much simpler than I thought I was so stuck for wood I used some old hardwood window frames. Out friend in Main loves it but at around 13 lb not for the faint hearted but firing two .6 lead balls great for bear. Maple is impossible to find in uk other than flooring grade and one blank was £300

Yes made three other flint rifles one .45 with a 1830 unused warranted lock. Then then two with 1810 original Bess locks one from 1972 .625 rifled and one still working on with a .6 oval bore Always on the look out for flint actions. And of course we have plenty of flint here to practice knapping. Our friend in Main thinks my guns are ugly ha ha. Mine just evolve I like big patch boxes and what I make makes me happy Great to hear from you from across the pond as they say. Love from cold London

Well done that man, you're making do with what you've got in the pioneering spirit.

Two questions, whats the govt ruling on Muzzle loading Flintlocks in the UK nowadays ?
And is anyone knapping Gun Flints for sale over there ? I heard that Tom Fuller of Brandon Flints is no longer with us.

Oh it’s ful police control. It’s same certificates for flintlocks percussion or brass / paper cartridges

S1 for rifles , cartridge and ML rifles antique or reproduction and muzzle loading pistols and Also stupid very long barreled cartridge pistols and repro cap and ball revolvers mainly range only unless you have land permission or farmer or vet. Very unlikely for us plebs

S2 for shotguns and smooth bore ML. Flint or percussion (You cannot shoot a single lead ball without an S1 ) this includes antique shotguns had an S2 for years no problem till I hit 76 and house was robbed

thete is an obsolete list of cartridge guns/rifles you can buy without certificated like 577/450 or 450:400 theses are wall hangers only they must be made before 1939 I recall. So I cannot buy a Shilo sharps but I can buy an original if the cartridge is obsolete.

S5 is pistols but the general public won’t get one. S7 covers this for museums or exceptional collectors like museums

All reproductions are on certificate. S1/S2

I cannot make guns of any type as not a gunsmith but rather I repair and rebuild the woodwork on them and it’s a thin online line if I add modern parts, I’ll say no more

So I can buy wall hanging antiques and obsolete guns as you can see on my wall

a couple of years ago age 76 the police banged on my door and took away my 3 shotguns and S2 I supplied them with 7 years of medical certs. I have been interviewed but they did not like my answers and they claimed I would/ might shoot intruders. My 3 shotguns were scrapped no compensation. There’s hardly anywhere to shoot around here and I have not been shooting since 2012 and not a member of a club So I shoot pcp air guns under 12 ft lbs no police cert needed. And an a dab hand with bow and arrow but again you cannot hunt with once since 1963.

My pcp can out shoot a shotgun on rabbits and squirrels so life ain’t that bad and with a 100 yard wooded garden no complaints i plink away at age 78 shooting 1” groups at 60 yards, eat the odd squirrel or pigeon, sit on my rocking chair and play my banjo, look and dream of my wall hangers cuddle my 450-400 double rifle in case a tiger escapes from the zoo 5 miles away No wonder they took away my guns. Ha ha ha ha. Actually I am still 35 fit and well and only my bit of cancer will kill me

I do wish you well. I find my flint chipping end up in my wife’s flower pots but the they spark well if I can find one like on my 1810/20 Bess lock. If you cannot get flints I found carbide tips for lathe turning worked well

PS
i can always borrow a shotgun but not keep one in my house

it’s pissythe hill across the road has deer but I can only photograph them. Best then is fresh road kill and there. Is plenty of deer to be collected in the country side but not around here.

even my sons are dead against hunting and guns you must not harm a robber or intruder it’s against the law and they human rights

it’s a green and present land , you cannot say hill of foreigners, that’s racist it’s welcome to England and the mayor of London is a Moslem , daily up your a 1000 cross the channel to get here in rubber boats I cannot comment as it’s racist and against the law.

sorry, but you did adjust. And no Henry Krank sells flints. And napping is early days for me. Plenty of good flintin the chalk south fiend and elsewhere I wish you wel

I must apologise to our readers for ranting on you hit a painful spot the uk is not a gunny country, nobody likes us. Ha ha. Lack of love you might say. Even V8 engines are becoming a no no

the only place I know to get flints is Henry krank and they export world wide When I buy from USA it’s usually around 10 days postage not that outrageous for us £4. Powders and primers £25 courtier

I need to get some more flint nodules 30 miles away but most are broken up by machinery farm or roads and you just cannot just dig it out of a chalk cliff. My pall gets loads as their range is in a chalk quarry and for safety they have to clear nodules away from the target area. Constantly falling down from the cliff face. Alas he’s 180 miles away up in Norfolk

My chips are not good enough to send to friends ? early napping days but made a few crude arrow heads

I wish you well.

Damn sad to read this mate, I had no idea it was that bad for you in what was once "Great Britain".
Thank God my family left Scotland 5 generations ago LOL.

Our Gun Laws here in Australia are an individual State responsibility, and the National Firearms Agreement (NFA) is only that.... an Agreement and although each State has made most of the NFA Law, no two States are the same.

Where I am in Queensland Muzzle loaders (Flint and Percussion of any calibre) are regarded as hardly any concern conditional on you being Licensed A &B category (Rifle and Shotgun). We also have a Collectors License (which includes All Firearms workable, temporary and permanently inoperable, and the Police Commissioners approval to Shoot any Collectable Firearm on an approved Range twice yearly) in addition to a Concealable Licence (Club Range category NOT including Carry). I hold all 3 licenses and have been an active Shooter since I was 16, now I'm 69.

Here in Queensland our State Police force are respectful and reasonable when it comes to Licensed Shooters, many of them are active Sporting Shooters themselves, Men and Women.

You may be surprised to learn that Licensed Private ownership of Firearms (both Pistols and Long Arms) has significantly increased, and continues to grow; since the NFA was introduced over 20 years ago particularly among Women which IMO is a positive thing.

We have a very strong Shooters Association here, the SSAA that has a nation wide membership, and a more recent National Shooters Council (NSC) thats focussed on the legal protection of Licensed Firearms owners rights, and theyve had some significant success recently in challenging the Western Australian Police excesses.

We're fortunate here in Australia as theres no shortage of approved Firing ranges (most with Camping, Kitchen; Toilet and Showering amenities) and opportunities to hunt on private property particularly in the outback regions.

Thankfully our Anti-Gun critics (in the minority) have been exposed as deceitful zealots over the last few years, and they have little to no influence politically nowadays.

All the best to you and yours my friend.

That’s dam nice to hear from you. Yes met some old boys from Queensland at holts London auction buying up guns One bugger claimed He shot thousands of water buff. Great story teller My uk mate has loads of guns and S1 certs but he is only interested in reloading and target shooting no problem with Norfolk police

me I am a hunter target shooting is for pcp air guns

guess you heard of Graeme Wright from down south “ British double rifles “ got his book

Perth Oz is different seems very anti gun. You cannot hunt with blow pipes crossbows or muzzle loaders they think they are cruel poor killers. A .222 .243 is ok. But I found nothing to shoot as far up as Exmouth. Hunting permission very difficult , on my three trips there I never saw anything to hunt. Roos here and there in the cemetery but nobody eats them and you can keep your roo sassages or snags

Big ranges up at Jondulup 18 miles north of perth ML section but no viewing area for visitors. Gave the place away.

great place for skin cancer and loved sailing on Perth or rather Frermantle water beer too expensive at £9 a pint but it’s just the exchange rate. Flight only £550 but a 23 hour flight again no thanks. Can be windy and cold in November Defiantly wet and cold down south went there to feed great rays in the blood rain

great Hunting up out of Darwin should have gone thete but cousins kids left as a couple of kids got eaten by crocs

yes a super island down under even smashed cousins company car up in the outback desert ha ha. His wife was driving Coral bay was ok swimming and had a week at Canarvon

Great to chat I miss OZ warm evenings music in the park a a case of cold beer. Hunted tiger snakes along Swan river gentle frog eating snakes but deadly if you get bitten
I’ll leave you with this got lost coming out of Perth on Guildford road
Put Tom Tom on. And Darwin for fun

“ at the next junction take a right turn , after 2300 miles take a left turn, and you have reached your destination “.

I wish you well from uk

I kind of envisioned Hawkeye’s rifle to be similar to the one I had built, my Edward Marshall rifle, circa the late 1750’s. If I’m off base on that, no offense in pointing it out.
