I cross posted this on the builder page, but in a more broader sense…maybe someone here can advise. I am missing a spring that goes inside the trigger that allows this 2 stage system to work.

(A) any idea how to replace this part

(B) OR can I simply plop in my own assembly? I would prefer a single stage one

Any idea who made the trigger?

I think more detailed pictures of the trigger would help. For example, is there a scre or tapped hole for a screw to mount the return spring?

That is an old single acting double trigger from Dixie. It might have been a North Star. You can bend another spring from music wire or just use the plate to make a single trigger by soldering a block on the plate and drilling it for the single trigger.. Also you could draw around the plate and make a new one with the trigger pinned in the wood. Tons of choices.

I have made the light springs that keep the front trigger from "bouncing" out of steel guitar strings. They will cold form if you are careful.
