    “DARTS” with round balls!

    Find your Target here:

http://www.targets.ws/shooting-targets/dart-board-target-1.pdf (Colored target for those who want it fancy)

    or here :

http://www.targets.ws/shooting-targets/dart-board-target-2.pdf (for those like me who can’t print a color target.

    Rules:

Shots are to be taken off hand at 25 yards

Take 3 shots only, at any score place on the target.

Highest score wins – standard dart board scoring will be used, if you need to know how it works look here:
    http://www.darts.org.nz/dart-scoring.htm

Mutilated targets and targets with more than 3 holes will be disqualified.

You may print the generic target and fill it in with color as you wish so long as the target lines are still CLEARLY visible. (Remember the bullseye has an inner and outer ring)

    No do-overs.

Only registered forum members may participate.

Only traditional, open iron sighted muzzleloading firearms (NO Cannons). Percussion or flintlock ignition. Cap and Ball revolvers are OK.
Peep sights are allowed, but your target must be labeled "used peep sight" so I can track it. (For now its all going on the same scoreboard, but if I see a trend favoring peeps I'll make some adjustments)

Single patched round ball only. No restrictions on caliber. (a patchless ball may be used if so desired)

Shots will be taken off-hand at the stated distance.(Standing or seated is allowed, elbows unsupported by anything other than the shooters torso)(In the event that a member is not physically able to hold his rifle up unsupported, a "prop-rod" that is supported only by the shooters torso, no part of which prop-rod may touch the ground, may be used to hold up the fore-end of the rifle)

Only original targets will be accepted. No copies, faxes, scans, etc.

The center of the shot and the placement on the target will be determined by the judge.

    Judges decisions are final.

Each contestant's score will be posted at the end of the contest.

Your member screen name must be written on your targets.

Mail your target postmarked by June 30th, 2019 to:

So if the tip of my 'dart' is .54 and it's touching more than one section of the dartboard, do I get the highest score? Or the score of the section the majority of the hole is in? I'm stapling my targets to cardboard now, then stapling the cardboard to the target stand and I'm getting much better defined holes in the target.

Missed out on Elmer last month. My neighbors daughter came home from school for the summer. With her horses. The horses that pasture behind my backstop! Better safe than sorry.
Today I came home to find the horses were not there. For whatever reason. I took advantage of the situation at hand.
One and done, dartboard in the mail.

I know how you feel Ames. My daughters horses are spending the summer here on my pastures.
    Got my dartboard printed.

I try to envision the center of the shot and where it would lie when I score. In most cases, if it breaks the line it counts for that area but on this board if its in more than one area I try to envision where the tip of an actual dart would be. If I cant accurately (in my opinion) judge that then I err on the side of the shooter and give the higher score

Fair enough. I'll shoot the.45 and make it easier to score. Assuming I'm on target lol.

Shot my target today in a light rain. Not a cloud burst or anything just a steady light summer rain. I shoot flintlock so I thought this would be a fun challenge. I shot my first three shots at the dart board and with that done I shot 3 more at another target. Got them all off with out any misfires. Then it started coming down harder and I headed in. Shooting flintlock in the rain can be done but you really got to pay attention to every move you make to keep that lock dry. Just love burning that black powder!
Dart board will be in the mail tomorrow.

I have to disqualify myself from this one. I didn't read the rules carefully enough and when I shot the target I fired 5 times. Only got 3 hits, but still.....

Well, I probably would have been last anyhow. Out of my 3 hits only 1 was actually on the dart board. I need to work with that rifle.

Love the target! Wife and I are on vacation out of the country for another week but we will try and get this one shot and in the mail before the end of the month. Wife just got into muzzleloaders a couple of months ago and is really enjoying the shooting and camaraderie associated with smoke poles. She is quite the shot! LUCKY man

Finally got a chance to shoot yesterday. Rain has been playing havoc with shooting. Good thing it isn’t shot at 50 or 100 yds. Those are still flooded. I will put it the mail tomorrow. Got lucky on a couple of shots.

Well I got mine shot today. Will be in the mail tomorrow. Pleased with my shots. Think I am finally getting the .32 SMR dialed in as I practiced several times this month and put about 100 shots through her while working up a good powder/patch/ball combination. We will see. :) :ThankYou:
