I recently got a percussion double barrel marked John Graveley on each lock. The locks are engraved with the dog pointing a flying woodcock. I have seen this before on other guns. I have found Graveley as a knife maker in New York after he immigrated from England. Jim Batson said that he believed Graveley moved to Ohio after his breakup with Wreaks to make knives and guns. Any of you know information on him? The proof marks are English but there is a divot on the left barrel breech that looks to be the Leige Tower. Any information will be appreciated. Barry

Note that the proof marks are from the Birmingham Proof Company with the lower mark on each barrel only showing the V rather than the BPC around the scepters. Does this indicate a certain time period?

The posting from 2013 by BIRDWATCHER gives the answer . Graveley was an importer and did not make the guns & knives . I also included the original NYC directory listing

...a typical British imported double barrel shotgun that looks in reasonable shape except for the missing lock bolt

Thanks for posting this! The lock bolt is only missing because I hadn't put it back in to take the pic! Now to get the nipples out and replaced so I can shoot it!
