Joe Williams of The Gun Works in Springfield, OR passed away on Jan 15th. It's a sad day for the muzzleloader community. Joe was a great guy and long time supporter of the cause and
excellent rifle smith. He will surely be missed.

Sad to hear that. He was very honest and fair to deal with.

Very sad news. Knew Joe for many years from various gun shows.

He was always great to talk with and buy or sell with.

Sad News, I met Joe decades ago. Always cheerful and very knowledgeable. His setup at Cal Expo was always a first stop. He will be missed.

His knowledge will be missed, as will his sense of humor.

First met Joe and Suzi 30 some years ago on Traders Row at the old Jedediah Smith Rendezvous near Grants Pass, Oregon. I'll be the first to cheerfully admit that Joe always came out on the better end of our deals! Rest in peace, sir.

From The Gun Works website seen today:

To Our Loyal Customers and Friends,

On the evening of 1-15-2020, the founder of The Gun Works, Joe Williams, un-expectantly passed away one month shy of his 85th birthday. He had been the driving force of the company for 39 years.

Although riddled with grief and shock, Suzi, his wife and competent staff will continue to fulfill customer needs and preserve his 39 year legacy.

The muzzleloading fraternity has lost a walking encyclopedia of invaluable information that was always unselfishly shared.

No words can adequately describe how much he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

    Keep your powder dry!
    Suzi and Staff

I first met Joe and Suzi at the Sacramento California gun show many years ago. I was amazed at how much stuff they would set up there...probably 8 to 10 tables of muzzleloading stuff, with gun racks on them as well. He would drive a pretty fair sized truck with a lift gate down to California. Lots of work for the two of them.

Only one dealing with these fine folks, but it was a quality experience. Both fine people. He will be missed, as our sport is diminished once again.
