Apparently Jerry Huddleston passed away on Friday due to heart attack, He was a master gun builder of the highest order and will be sorely missed.

Condolences to the family and friends who knew him best.

Hi,
This was a shocker and terrible news. Jerry was one of the best high-end gun makers in the world and he really knew 18th and 19th century French work. We lost a very deep well of knowledge.

I count myself as fortunate to have met and visited with Jerry a few times in years past, when he was really active on the forums and more than willing to share his vast knowledge on color case hardening I copied all of his posts and condensed the information into a usable single page tutorial on the subject, his work spoke for itself. The gun building community is poorer do to this loss.

That is very sad news. Met Jerry and his wife some years ago when he was set up at the Las Vegas Antique Arms Show. The rifles he made and displayed were magnificent craftsmanship.

Got to know Jerry via the Oregon Gunbuilder's Faire. Simply put, a good guy, sharing what he knew and smart enough to know that he always could learn something. Will miss him.
