I have mainly hunted with flint smoothies when muzzleloading these past 25-30 years but recently have dipped my toes back into the grooved barrel pool. I built. .45 parts rifle this past year and may hunt with it but now am thinking about a future with something a bit larger bored. I also really love Germanic rifles and guns and am considering building a jaeger.

I would love to solicit the thoughts, experiences, and opinions of those that own and shoot jaegers currently. Make? Bore? Accuracy, distance, and effectiveness? Likes and dislikes? Whatever you wish to share. Photos are fun too.

For reference, this rifle will likely never see a reenactment. It will also likely never shoot a match (not anything official or serious at least). My sole reason for wanting is to tote it around the woods and hunt.

Vielen dank!

Here is a thread on one I restored, the pictures are at the end as Photoshop held them for ransom when they discontinued tinypic. It turned out really nice, if I do say so and it's as accurate as any of my other guns. Although it's a percussion I bet a flintlock would be just as much fun and accurate.
