Investarm Hawken question.

The markings on the barrel of my Investarm Hawken have some gold "paint" any idea if it's original or not?

It's not paint it's gold paste, I can remove it with a toothpick, I will not be the only one with gold markings for long

Investarms has made rifles for a lot of companies. It looks like someone wanted it to match the brass furnishings.

Acetone or lacquer thinner should correct your problem. Do not let either come in contact with the stock of you will have a new and different problem.

No can do. Even if it were legal to do so, having the "Black Powder Only" hidden would open them up to major liability issues the first time someone who didn't know any better loaded it with smokeless powder and fired it.
You can bet your last penny that person's next of kin and any bystanders injured (or their next of kin if killed) will sue.

As with modern cartridge arms the caliber has to be stamped on the barrel where it can be seen.
