I was perusing the net, and I ran across this article. No comment personally, as I've never tried it. I thoght it would be of interest to other cap 'n' ball revolver shooters, though.

If it's already been posted, I apologize.

Thanks Musketeer,

Good informative post! I have been making paper cartidge for about 15 years or so and though I do mine a bit different, this is a good method to follow.

Using cigarette paper I have never needed to prick the cartridge through the nipple once it's been loaded. The cap sends enough of a spark to ignite the cartridge. I haven't experienced any hang or misfires, so this step could be eliminated I would expect.

This is a good post for those who may want to get into the new developing "Plainsman Shoots" we are trying to get going where cap and ball revolvers along with muzzle loading rifles are only allowed.

Again, nice post!

Good article. There is a better one as far as detail in the new 2005 Dixie Gun Works Black Powder Annual, available on news stands or by mail. I would recommend that for anyone interested in trying combustible cartridges because it gives a lot more needed info. There is also a really good story on Buff hunting in Kansas. :)
