Hey guys
IMA has a great deal on oringial English and French flints from the 19th century you can buy a pound of them for $30 plus shipping.

"In for a penny, in for a pound" - I also just ordered a pound o'flints from IMA. Chose the hand-select option. $34.95 plus shipping. Should last my lifetime as I have only one rifle with a Brown Bess lock.

I also ordered these. I haven’t sorted through them yet but most of the few I examined looked ok to use as is. How are yours?

Finally got to sort the 5 pounds ”hand picked” flints. I found about 140 useable or will be useable with knapping/shaping. Most are large enough for a musket. The rest will fit smaller locks. There were many too-thin flakes, shards, small nodules and just plain rocks.

I have several very large ones, but more large and a good number of medium sized, some of which are amber. Quite a few are not well formed,Modern ones seem much better made. Many are missing corners and/or are dull, no doubt in part from storage and handling. They will still be useable.
