This is a really nice IAB Marcheno Sharps .54 percussion rifle. It is in near mint, unfired condition. Metal and wood would be flawless, if not for having taken a hard hit to heel of stock at some point that knocked some small chips off around top of buttplate. Mostly just a sad aesthetic flaw. Bore in the 29.5" barrel is pristine. Ships direct to your door. Payment by USPS Money Order or cashiers checks preferred. Discrete PayPal Friends and Family (add 1.5%). Shipping via USPS Priority Insured. $950 SHIPPED!

FWIW, I have the same gun and had Charlie Hahn modify the breech. It is a good shooter and I found that the stories about IAB (“it’s always broken”) are not true, at least in my case.
Yep. I had an IAB .45 years ago that was more accurate than my later Pedersoli rolling block. It just kicked like a mule and that crescent buttplate left me a hurting unit after a 40 round match.

I shot a buddy's Sharps and that puppy kicked like a mule also!

I am somewhat interested; what does it take to fire this? paper cartridges?
I had one many years ago when I thought about getting involved with NSSA. I made paper cartridges using nitrated paper and conical bullet. But like Boston Bill, I usually just pushed the bullet in with a piece of antler and poured powder in behind it. Closing action took excess charge away.
