This is me cutting some maple for a Muzzleloader stock. I have cut out two of them in the last week just this way. I used both hands so as to exercise both sides. One of the stocks will be for my upcoming matchlock.

 I can recognize a smart man, it's March not August, otherwise there'd be a pool of sweat under your feet and you'd look like a dish rag. S'matter no one has a band saw in your neighborhood? Wow, that's the place I would have quit, heck no I wouldn't have started---let' see your work progress. :hatsoff:

Even with a ripsaw that would be an impossible
task....careful you don't cut your nice cabinet
in half as it is not much of a support for your
energy..... :shake:

Thanks guys,
It took me around an hour per stock. I filed the rip saw just before I started on the first one. I really did need the upper body arobics, or I will balloon up like a blimp.

Oh yeah, Pasquenal,
These are just cut from the wet stump. I cut them now so they will dry a little faster. I will likely make the lock for the matcher and the pistole wheellock before I get at stock making. They need to dry for the rest of the year.

Boy howdy. I was effortlessly skinny until my late 40s. Now, at 54, I can tell the difference on the scales the next day even between drinking a six of light versus regular beer. It's NOT FAIR.

Nothing like doing it the hard way, eh?
It builds character and gives one bragging rights.
I find wheel locks fascinating, especially the Tschinkas of Russia.
