in this video is "capandball" you that know him know that he is knowledgeable and makes great videos. he is loading his jaeger with 70gr. of swiss 2f and then on top of that 30gr. of filler to increase the volume, why? i have never heard of doing that in a muzzleloader, just metallic cartridge's. why would you do that on a front loader? i am sure there is a reason,,,,,,,,,,

 
He is using the filler as an over powder card. It acts like a firewall of sorts, that way the thinner patch stays intact as it travels down the barrel. Therefore increasing accuracy. Sometimes I’ll do that, but use a spent patch rather than oatmeal or cornmeal.

That's correct and I have also used the filler to move the ball position into good rifling in a barrel that has some rusted out rifling near the breech.
