When I was a young boy I read a book Titled "The Three Little Pigs" and later joined the Boy Scouts and was taught to Always Be Prepared. As Americans we need to remember these lessons, in my opinion anyway. I believe some dark days lay ahead but we can weather the storm but we must be prepared.

No one in the states makes caps. They all come from overseas. So between covid and panic buying...... you are SOL till the supply chain starts moving normal again. People hear don't want to go to work. What makes you think the people overseas do. DY

Much of it is the environmental regulations imposed upon the makers that make domestic production costly and unprofitable Why do you think there are no new oil refineries being built. Self imposed, idiotic ban everything regulations imposed by liberal coastal elites who live off our tax money.

They need to be voted out. But until then we are stuck with idiotic virtue signaling idiots who people vote in, in spite of their own self interests.

I did a search for drying wet primers. Not that different from caps. The general consensis is that it works. Try speading them on a tray, open side up, and give them some time with a hair dryer. Lots of warm air but not nearly hot enough to set them off. Nothing to lose by trying and if a good portion of them will fire you can use them for targets. Give it a try and let us know. Some people have used food dehydrators if you have one of those.

disgusted with this country! I have called all over the country this afternoon trying to order musket caps and a couple nipples to fit a 1/4x28 thread and noone has squat! I’m gonna put the Hawkens up .
I know what you're saying my friend, but it's going to get worse. Since Obiden depleted the National Oil Reserves, fuel prices are already going back up, which will fuel up inflation, and unbelievable shortages of everything.

Yep, we are well into the second great muzzleloader supplies buying panic. Many, if not most, muzzleloader shooters learned nothing from the first panic; they failed to stock up.

I think the problem may be that some folks DID stock up. As in, if the store received a shipment and had no limit, they bought all that was there, leaving none for others! In other words, as things are starting to "trickle" in, there is still "Panic Buying".

I can't tell you how many times I've seen posts where someone found caps available and there are at least ten packs in the photo.

My local shop finally got some in but there's a limit of two tins per day. I thought it would have been per week like they did with powder when it was scarce. I was told they only received a third of their order.

I was told that the Remingtons I bought at my local shop were made by CCI as Remington is closing their factory in New York state to build one elsewhere in the US. A Google search of CCI says they're located in Lewiston, Idaho. Are you saying all their goods are made overseas?

The LGSs around here have not nor will be carrying any quantity of ‘traditional’ muzzleloader supplies like percussion caps or blackpowder. For them enough doesn’t sell to make it worth their time or investment compared to the modern muzzleloader stuff that flys off the shelf. Even the local WallyWorld ‘guncounter’ guy has no idea when or if they will ever get percussion caps. No opportunity to panic buy locally unless it’s milk and bread after the weatherman predicts the possibility of snow or ice…..

So I guess I’m one of the problem folks because I stock up on caps (among other things) when they are available. Last time I bought caps (RWS 1075+) in January 2021 I believe, they were sold in a ‘Value Pack’ of 10 x 250 pieces, or 2500, by Midway. I purchased two (5000 caps total) packs to take advantage of free shipping and discounts available. Maybe I could have asked them to just sell me a couple tins?

I wasn't referring to folks like you nor was I talking about mail order. You purchased what was offered. Maybe our (yours and mine) Wallyworld doesn't have any but somebody's did and the person(s) in question bought everything they had.

I used to get my caps at Sportsman's because they were the only store that carried Remington at a decent price (Cabela’s was $2 more). They never stocked more than ten tins. Being in retail most of my life, that sounds about right. Both stores have told me they haven't had caps in two years. So, either there aren’t any available which I doubt or they’re just not stocking them. By the way, the only time I ever took all they had was when they gave me a 10% off coupon for giving a Seminar on Muzzleloaders. I bought the nine packs knowing they’d be getting more in the next week. Of course, this was 10 years ago when supplies were good!

My point was that the manufacturers seem to be catching up on production but when a “Big Box” store does get them in, someone buys all they have perpetuating the shortage.

I know what you mean about panic buying, however, when you do the research and see the "s**t storm" coming, you stock up.

After the last shortage I vowed "never again." I bit the bullet and spent about half a years pay in a short period of time. Now I just fill in the holes with random purchases and practice making my own percussion caps, reloading primers, and knapping flints for the absolute worst case situation.

Things do appear to be coming back for the diligent searcher. Stuff is out there. This morning's deliveries included winged musket caps, #11 caps, tresco nipples, and a 60 pound box of tin that my mail lady is probably still swearing about. Also got a large surprise - I had ordered 1000 large rifle primers which have been REALLY hard to find for me - in today's shipment was 11000 primers, I guess they accidentally fumble-fingered a extra number 1.

I was able to find everything the OP was looking for in less than 5 minutes with google. The thing that took the longest was sorting out all the fake sellers that will only take venmo or bitcoin. Keep searching and remember to vote.

Have you tried the big sporting goods store in Bastrop? If your where I think you are that's not too far away. There's also a gun shop in Columbia, MS that has musket caps every time I've been there, but that's a ways away.

I gave a friend a pack of Caps yesterday because he was not able to fine any . I told this same guy a few months ago to check his local Walmart because they were showing them in-stock. He waited until this week to look for some with hunting season starting. After I gave them to him he then asked if I would sell him some BP at cost.... I offered him some Pyro that I had for just in case. He bought it from me at my cost . Then he asked if I would cast him some balls if he got me the lead...
I had to explain to him that I was not a store and was helping him out by giving him a pack of caps and sell him some Pyro at 3 year ago prices. I told him he would have to help himself out a little by not waiting until hunting season to get supplies.
But like most people in the BP community would do, I told him I would pour him 100 balls.
After our little conversation, he did remind me that I was the reason why he was planning to hunt with traditional equipment in the first place..
SO I was glad to help..
Great to see others on here willing to help brothers in need!
I think it's great that you helped your friend out, I really do. But he sounds like the kind of guy that would profit from being told "the Good Lord helps those who help themselves".

Then put those Hawkens up & stop whining! "Disgusted with this country"! Really! Blame this country all you want. See what good is does you! Believe it or not it's not our "country's" fault. Caps, nipples & powder are out there. You just have to make more of an effort to find them than you used to.

Some where, sometimes you have to draw the line. there are people that will use you if you let them. I, like you, get used a lot. If I had the money I have loan others and rifles I have given away not to mention my free labor I would be able to buy a new home. Just joking but I have helped a lot of people and it adds up. I figure if they can live with it I can live without it.

Calm down friend, you're gonna be okay.
