I am looking for some help with a couple of Huntsman rifles I just picked up.

These are my first BP rifles, a .45 and a .58 cal.

I live in Alaska, so it would be great to find someone up here who knows about these rifles. I am looking to find out if they are safe to shoot etc.

Thanks, GLM

I really hate to have to say it but the H&R Huntsman is one of the modern, "in-line, muzzleloaders we don't discuss on the forum.

It is basically a break open style shotgun that the company put a muzzleloading barrel on so it is not one of the traditional guns that were in use prior to the end of the Civil War.

In-line guns like these usually have fast twist, shallow groove barrels that are made to shoot sabots, another thing we don't discuss here on the forum.

I hope you understand.
