I'm Hunter, and I am an avid hunter as well. I've been hunting with flintlocks for years and have recently become more interested in a blunderbuss along with currently looking for a .50 cal flintlock pistol. Here to learn more about blunderbuss loads and maybe pick up a flintlock pistol to take a deer with as well.

Seem to think many states don't allow hunting large game with a black powder pistol. I don't believe it should be done except maybe the tiny southern whitetails.

Here in PA last time I checked (which I would do again before going after a deer with one) the requirement was at least a .50cal. To take one with a flintlock pistol I would want a deer within 25 yards maybe 30. Farther than that and it's the rifle all day long.

Still I don't think it has enough penetration for humane hunting even at 10 yards. Too many variables.
