Guess I should introduce myself rather then stalk in the shadows, eh?
Got my start in black powder and re-enacting with the GAoP groups (late 1600s to early 1700s). Actually I was seeking some sword fighters for some 'therapy' after a serious injury that almost cost my my right hand...got into shooting for shows and such but they only shot blanks, after a group trip to the range for some real shooting - I got hooked! Blanks was no longer any fun.

My wife had been with a Civil War group for several years when I met her, but alas their group had been aging and falling to the wind.

As the years went on and what I considered the 'good groups' (historical re-enacting) fell one by one, we (the wife and I) began to seek out those who still believed in History. Most of who we had come to know had fled the west coast. We checked out our first Rendezvous two years ago and made the decision to change our direction.

Around here there are many who called me "one of the most PC pirates in the West" (actually my persona was a 'buccaneer', but oh well) - now I wish to leave the sea and seek my fortune in Fur!

Just for the record; my brief bio include Herpetology, Snow Skiing, Skydiving, Technology, and now Black Powder. I enjoy learning new skills, and making my own gear.

Welcome aboard! I haven't been here too long myself, but have already found a lot of great information and discussions here. I can usually be found as an 18th century sailor myself, former Royal Navy Bosun that tired of the mistreatment of the crew and jumped ship and turned pirate. Most of the rest of the crew that I have around my area are pretty firmly anchored in the realm of Disney/Renn Faire much to my personal chagrin, but to each their own. They do try though, and they do tone it down for when we present the history of privateers and pirates for school days. Many of them have an interest in being more historically accurate and period correct and slowly but surely are getting more historically accurate and period correct. Sorry, I didn't mean to careen quite that far off course... You don't always come across another pirate/ privateer/ buccaneer! Again, welcome and I hope you have a good time here!

Well Fair Winds to ye Jeff!
True I have jumped ship with the pirate groups; I began with those trying to bring history alive but the good ones move away and those that stayed fell pray to mermaids and Jack Sparrow....so like Blackbeard I left ship and headed for land (but no, I do not sleep with my socks on)

I can still be found making a day trip to local events; have to kill someone now and then so the don't forget me.
