I used a variation of that theme with the wooden bottom. I had a bag with a gusseted bottom and carved a pine bottom to fit in the gusset. It was rounded on the bottom but flat on the top, and about two inches deep. I drilled holes in the top to hold my pre-measured powder tubes, my short starter, and my primer. With a bullet board around my neck, I can load without taking my eyes off the target, because everything is right where it is supposed to be. Very efficient, and invisible to the eye.

ADK Bigfoot

Within the same thought as ADK Bigfoot, I modified a Rev War belly box (French I think) by removing the wood block that held pre-measured charges and replacing with a block I made with 3 openings. Each of the openings holds a different wad (over powder, cushion, over shot). By working from my left to right, I can load my flint double shotgun reasonably quickly and without having to "dig" for the right wad. Just another idea for the use of wood within a pouch.
