Further craziness. On GunbBroker right now there is a can of #11 Remington caps that is at $130 with four days left and $20 shipping. Same seller has a pound of 2F Goex that is at $150 and $35 shipping with time left. This is becoming insane.

But is it selling at those prices ? I can ask $1,000 for a tin of caps all day, doesn't mean anyone will pay that, except a fool. In the big picture powder and caps don't compare to not getting baby formula to feed your infant. I would sound silly complaining to my friends about not getting to shoot when they can't feed their infant.

Those aren't the starting bids but what the items have been bid up to that point already. Several bids on the caps and the powder. Several people have bid the tin of caps up to $130 and the powder up to $150. Go on Gunbroker under muzzle loader supplies and type Remington/CCI #10 or #11 caps or Goex. Lots of crazy prices being paid right now. This has been going on for a while. Remington Percussion Caps#11 - Muzzleloader Supplies & Black Powder Parts at GunBroker.com : 933276117

Common sense will rule. Best to prepare with knowledge and equipment to make
everything yourself BUT buy factory made if it is reasonable price. So, you should
be able to supply yourself if forced. For caps and powder it is reasonable to pay
15% more during these times. Remember, many bidders on GB are not in
America or are shills(fake). The winning bidders are getting things shipped that are not
available in their countries or jurisdictions. They will happily pay high prices.

Just one question, How do you ship powder and caps? Where I am at only people who have federal licenses can ship haz mat items. I can receive them but not ship them.

I hope nobody buys those things. It would set a bad precedent.

I like @kyron4 's post. There are priorities.

I sometimes browse through Gunbroker, but I don't recall ever buying anything there. I don't like auctions... They feel too much like gambling, in that you can get caught up in the bidding competition and next thing you know, you're in over your head. When I was quite young, an older fellow said, "Only bet on a sure thing." It was good advice.

Best regards,

My biggest concern here in the UK is the proposed lead ban, I doubt it will stop muzzle loading completely but there's no doubt it will eventually go through. Anything that has the current buzz-word 'environment' somewhere in the paperwork is on to a winner. Their (The Home Office) excuse is they don't want lead polluting the soil?? By all means correct me if I am wrong but I thought it came from the ground??
I have tried casting bismuth/tin but can't get a reliable round ball at the moment. I am obviously doing something wrong... Any advice would be gratefully received.

If this is on an auction site then I don't fault the guy who posted it. Seems you have idiots with more money than brains IF they actually intend to go through with the sale. Plus you going to have Haz-mat fees to ship. I was going through the milk crate of extra shooting supplies I have the other day. Found a couple cans of powder and a whole box of #11 CCI percussion caps I didn't know I had. Maybe I ought to put them on the auction if people willing to pay that for them.

CCI and Remington caps are selling regularly on there for ten times and even way higher right now. Most of those buying them on GB are probably in areas of the country where they don't have anyplace within a reasonable distance to possibly find them. But paying over a hundred dollars plus shipping for one tin is crazy.

Like one person said as of January last year Gun Broker has to collect tax on items purchased by buyers from certain states. Minnesota is one of them. Anything you buy you have to factor in the shipping and the tax into the final cost and bid accordingly. As Notchy Bob said some get caught up in the bidding and pay too much. Others just have plenty of money and don't care or just desperate..

In my area the UPS and FED EX stores will not accept any gun parts! To ship ram rods I have to call them fly rods. And any machined parts I have to declare engine parts.
Then call them arts and crafts. Put the round tin or tins in a square box and then in an envelope. Doubt they are going to open your sealed envelope.

A month or so ago I bought a powder horn off an auction site. When I got it the horn felt heavy. Yup! It was almost full of 3F powder. That was not listed in the description. Really nice horn. Nice added bonus but no one knew the horn was full of powder but the guy that sent it.
