I've been enamored with the world of black-powder and muzzle-loaders for a couple years and just took the dip ordering my first kit, A Traditions St. Louis Hawken rifle kit. I thought about going with an in-line but I already own many center-fire rifles so where's the fun in that? I've also taken an interest in the firearms of the Revolution and Civil War. I look forward to pawing through the wealth of information here and picking the brains of those much more knowledgeable than I.

Cheers!

BRBM.

Great choice for not going inline:D. Rev war and Civil war at the same time? I hope you got deep pockets and plenty of time to read. Welcome and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the welcome and Merry Christmas to you as well. I'm intrigued by the firearms used during both the Revolution and Civil War. Matchlocks, flintlocks, percussion... basically the weapons in use prior to, or overlapping with, the advents of centerfire cartridges and smokeless powder.

Welcome Bigred. Traditional muzzleloaders are like the old Lays commercial. They said you can't just eat one, well with muzzleloaders you can't just have one.
I'm starting to find that out, lol. I feel like a kid in a candy store; "I want one of those, one of those, one of those..." I need to slow my roll, I think.
