New here but I have found some information on clubs here in Texas. I live in Houston and this is new to me but very interesting. I have shot all sorts of firearms but I'm new to BP.

Any of you in Houston area? I sure would enjoy shooting, I'm a member of a Gun Club in Friendswood. I'm building my first rifle now. A Bean rifle of course.

Mr. Bean Sir,

I live in Spring Branch (Near NW Side of Houston, near the Sam Houston and I10) and usually do my shooting at Hot Wells range on 290. I did not know that there were any clubs in Houston, and have been looking for one. Where do you like to shoot?

PSC shooting center in Friendswood. It is a regular gun club not just black powder. I am new to black powder but there are several clubs in Texas so it seems.

My range is a public, general purpose range. I have found lists of black powder clubs including some in Houston but have not found an active one. I will contact that reference you gave (TMLRA) but their range is listed as Brady, in the Austin area. I belong to some Tx Rev reenactment groups and so have contact with some local BP folks but know ofno local clubs in this nations fourth largest city, which is a crying shame.

Where do you get your black powder? To my knowledge, the only place in SE Texas to buy it over the counter is Bass Pro at Katy Mills Mall, fortunatly fairly close to me, but at around $25/lb kinda steep.

I ordered 5 pounds via the internet. Good to know about bass pro though.

I'm about done with building my rifle as far as structure. I hope to have it complete by Feb or so. At that point I will learn more about BP.

The club down here is

If you ever get bored feel free to drop me an email and I can take you as a guest. Nice club.
