I have had this lock awhile. It is stamped HF in the inside. The outside has faint stamping but I cannot tell what it is. An oval with lettering around IT?
I did not clean up the lock. I received it his way.
Thank you,

William

Probably an English import lock, typically made in Birmingham. Sometimes these locks were marked with the lock makers name, but quite often they were marked with the importer's name, a hardware merchant's name, or in some instances a gun maker's name.

Your lock looks like it has spent some time buried. It exhibits more corrosion than one would expect on a gun. The lock bolt also appears to have been broken with a small portion still in the lock plate.
