I'm shopping for a flintlock to use on an Adan Angstad inspired poor boy I mentioned a while back. It needs to be as plain as can be. Locking online at the usual suspects and in a paper Track catalog I don't find exactly what I'm looking for. It needs to have a plain unornamented plate, round pan and no roller on the frizzen, just something that would have been very low cost back in the day. The early Ketland is real close, but I'd prefer a plate of somewhat later design. The classic Ketland just a little too fancy, but not a lot. Although, a poor boy, Schimmle, could have been made using recycled parts and the early lock would do. What are your thoughts?

You could round the tail on the davis contract lock and it might be close to what you're looking for

I'm planning on using that lock... except the double throated version.... on a southern rifle soon. I'll definitely be rounding the tail. I'll send you a pic of the rifle I'm copying so you can see this lock with a rounded tail.
