Just thought I would say Hello, and tell a little bit about myself. I'm a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, and the Cultural Advisor for my tribe. I also do living history programs around the State for about 12 years. I show what life was like after removal to Indian Territory, 1830's-1850's. My camp is copied to one mentioned in a book about SE Indians, and is made of two buffalo hides and an elk (both rawhide with the hair on) set up as a double lean-to. This type of temporary dwelling/hunting camp is also documented in a painting by German-born artist Philip von Reck, as being used by the Mvskoke (Creeks) in 1734.
I hand sew most of my clothing and also have made a few twined bags, both open and closed-woven.
My cast iron is period correct with legs and ears/lugs shaped like a 7 and a D. I have a small HBCo copper kettle and a tin coffee pot that I use, too. For eating and cooking I use a buffalo horn spoon, a hickory wood stirring spoon/paddle and a maple ladel. I made and bought a wood bowl and a trencher for mixing and serving. I use gourds as containers for corn, beans and rice. Water is kept in buffalo bladders.
I don't get to attend as many events as I would like to, but maybe in the future I will. So far, Dripping Springs, Ft.Gibson and Ft.Washita is on the list.
Well, I guess that's more than what I had expected to tell.
