Originally from NYC where I shot BP. Moved to VT years ago where there were no restrictive firearms laws. Instantly became involved in competitive pistol shooting, did that for 20 years, achieving Master within 5 yrs. Started shooting service rifle HP got to Expert and switched to F/ T class because the irons were getting difficult to see clearly. Retired from dentistry, got back to my first love BP, have a 50/70 rolling block, 45/70 trapdoor both originals, and a replicas 1853 Enfield and 1858 Remington .44. Hand load everything, cast bullets, Minie for BP firearms. Made knives for a few years, have a mill and lathe, hobbyist gunsmith.

Hello Franklyn. Where in VT are you? I began with BP when I was 15, lucky to have met a bunch of adults who took me under their wing, inhaling 58 cal lead fumes at an ideal age. In my 20s moved on to all manner of striving for metallic accuracy, ended up shooting competitive bench rest. Feel like I’m coming full circle with 54 ball and, dare I say, bp cartridge at 74. Spent a bunch of years in nyc too. Let’s meet up if you’re in the northern half of VT. Or even if you’re not.
