Just found this forum ..Have been into muzzleloaders since the early 60s . Just a complete all around gun nut Like all firearms not just black powder . Life member NRA and TSRA.

Looking at your profile, it mentions Portland. I grew up in San Patricio County. Now I'm just north of you up in Bee Co. Sad to day there really isnt a whole lot of Muzzle Loading going on down here in South Texas.

I am from Galveston county originally have been down here for about 20 years .i have to agree not much going on with blackpowder in these parts.I lived in Missouri for 20 something years lots more muzzle loaders up there when I lived there state had several draw hunts that were primitive weapons. Only a couple in Texas and they are not in South Texas

I seem to recall my brother winning a spot in a draw hunt years ago. It was down in Kenedy county , I think. It was put on by Texas Parks + Wildlife. Not a state park but a Wildlife management area. I do recall it was primative. My cousin used a muzzleloader and my brother used archery. "Fuzzy memory" and like I said it was many years ago.
