Hello all! I’ve owned a muzzleloader for years, though I have only shot it occasionally. I have always had a fondness for the frontier days and grew up reading copies of Muzzleloader magazine and even visited the big rendezvous at Friendship as a child. This fall I decided to delve more deeply into muzzleloading, really for my own enjoyment as I haven’t hunted in some time. I picked up my first flintlock recently, a custom .40, and am excited to learn more. I’ve done blacksmithing for several years and think the two interests will compliment each other well. - Jake

Welcome from Arkansas, from another blacksmith who fell off into muzzle loading guns at the age of 17, after I started learning blacksmithing from a master in the Settlement at the age of 13. Learned enough leatherwork from my considerably older brother to make my own gear and still make most of my own gear, and some for friends. All these crafts lend themselves to the experience. Good luck in your rekindled interest, Keep on!
