Back in the ‘70’s I got a Jukar Kentucky pistol, and always enjoyed it. Just recently decided to get back into black powder with an 1858 Remington (Uberti) and 1848 Dragoon (black box,”Colt New York”, etc, which I think was probably made by Uberti for Colt). Fit, finish, and function are flawless for both.
I got a conversion cylinder for the Remington and noticed that the hammer doesn’t close all the way with the conversion cylinder … in fact the hammer only hits the firing pins with the corner heal of the hammer. Is that normal? I’m wondering if the conversion cylinder requires a different hammer? The hammer lands perfectly square when using the black powder cylinders with both the Remington and Dragoon.
Overall, it’s great fun getting back into all this. It seems a lot has improved since the ‘70’s!
