Brass embellishments and their meanings
I've notice a good deal of brass embellishments on many of the flintlock rifles I've seen. Is there a good source of defininitions about the meanings behind many of them? Hunter's Stars, Hearts, etc...and many others that I do not recognize....

Thanks for the link. I reread the article by Ackerman in the Gun Digest Treasury Number 7. The bleeding heart inlay that I asked about represents The Fifth Wound Of Christ. I say this after researching religious symbols and making that connection to my satisfaction.
