I say go for it, Thorr1965!
Lots of fun to shoot. Bit of a pain to build, but it was worth it.

Thanks! Nice thing is its got some heft to it. 8lb 14oz., 54 straight barrel. It absorbs the recoil of 90 grains ff with ease. Doesn't have the kick you think it would have.
Patch box was from the Hawken shop, St. Louis. Cherry stock from Pecatonica.

Hanson's said fullstocks were$.50 less then half stocks. I just like the looks of full stocks on just about everything over half’s.

    Ames' rifle is a honey!
I like full stocks too but don't have a full stock Hawken just a couple of .45 calibers.

FYI - reading Muzzle Blast magazine today.
This is probably the 8th article on different Hawken Rifle Bob Woodfill has done over the past 2-3 years.
Looking forward to his display and Seminar in June at Friendship.

"Hawkins" could mean the misspelled plural of Hawken. :D

I think the word "Hawkens" is an attempt to make the word possessive, that is, "Hawken's", like something that was owned or built by the Hawken brothers.

If the person who wrote it would have included the apostrophe before the "s" it would be clear what they were saying and it would be a correct way of identifying the rifles.

Zonie. Read post 1. It was the spelling of the word. Not plural.
