Every once in awhile this subject comes up, so though some pics on one way to do it would be in order.

The rib is attached w/ screws which makes it easier to install the front sling holder. The same sling holder can be used w/ a soldered on or riveted rib if installed before the attachment. A slot has been filed from the bottom side of the rib.

The front sling holder was made from a coat hanger and the hi temp silver solder joint is hidden by the leather loop...the shiny area is the solder joint.

The 1/8" thick toeplate has a stud riveted on which has a transverse hole to accept a modern sling holder. 2 wood screws attach the toeplate and one is quite close to the stud. A more primitive sling holder can be made that's similar to the front.

And your placement was perfect, so that when the sling attachment 'folds down', it sits against the ramrod pipe, so as not to block it.

A friend added one once ... but mounted in the wrong place!
