Could someone help us identify this rifle? Inherited this gun but have not been able to find any references to it on the web. Bore seems to be badly eroded octogon, measuring about .338" from land to land.

Thanks in advance.

Specifically, does anyone know anything about 'RB'? What company was it? It's likely a run-of-the-mill rifle, but I cannot find any references to 'RB' muzzle loaders.

There can be markings on the inside of the lock , under the barrel under the butt plate or maybe that is it . Most but not all lock makers signed their locks , same with gun makers . You will find that this rifle was made by an individual not a company , companies were more inclined to name their products . There certainly enough barrel for you to fresh it out to a larger caliber if you want to shoot it .
