I have a metal firearms case rated for airline travel, all lined with foam (customizable to fit) that will fit a longrifle/fowler with a barrel up to 48", maybe 50".

Used once, $200 plus shipping.

Posted info about the SKB cases in your other thread on same topic. While mine was a shorter version, used one for a trip to Namibia. Came through with some minor damage to the case when I got home, but cargo was fine. Believe SKB has a $1500 ‘insurance’ on contents in their cases. Flying with your rifle

Whatever you chose, don’t skimp. I’ve seen folks in airports given a handle with a tag on it at their destination. No idea what they checked in attached to the handle.
