Custom made 1980-period Percussion halfstock. 30 inch Douglas barrel 1 inch OTF hooked breech with cleanout screw. Barrel is clean with nice rifling. Longs lock of Denver, double set triggers, stripped maple stock, inside of lock mortice is glass bedded. LOP 13 3/4 inches. Home build (Maker unknown) small crack at lower end of the butt stock, and ramrod runout, both repaired. Not a perfect build some screws not centered (trigger guard and tang). Check photos. Quality parts and stock. I have had this for about 10 years shot it a couple of times but just not using it now. As with any firearm it should be check before use. PRICE is $525 Shipped

I'm tempted.

I'm wondering if the shorter barrel and being a .54 will be enough weight off to make my back happy.

How does it feel to shoulder it? Is it really nose heavy? Ever weigh it?
 
It weighs 8.5 lbs, that is about 1 pound less than a similar .54 that I have with a 34 inch barrel, and that weight is off the end of the barrel. Hope this helps. steg49
 
It does. Way better than the Pedersoli I just sold. It was at least 10lbs and could be more.

Yep, it was me. I just can't stay away from a Hawken. I'm sure this one will be a keeper.
