So I acquired an H&A UnderHammer Heritage rifle. It's missing the rear peep sight, but going to use a 1/4-28 thumb screw and drill a hole. But the rifle is missing the forward ramrod thimble. Original was brass, it just has a brass pins sticking out now. Any ideas for a replacement and or repair?
Thanks

I have measured the RR O.D. and used the appropriate size spent metallic handgun straight cartridge case and/or the neck of a spent bottleneck rifle case to serve as a thimble.

I have a H&A Heritage on my bench now so I pulled the thimble off to give you some dimensions. The thimble is 1 3/4" long & 1/2" OD. Its just thin wall brass tubing. The two screws are 1/8" long at the thread and 4/40 , a common hardware store size. I would cup the broken screws with a Dremel tool to help keep your bit centered and drill them out with the appropriate tap size drill for 4/40. Be careful as they are only .140 deep. Please see the attached photos. Hope this helps.

Thanks
O.R.
