Im looking for a really good gunsmith to build my next rifle. unfortunantly the guy that has built my last 2 is no longer going to be building rifles anymore (DB)--this is a BIG BLOW to the longrifle makers art. I was really saddened when he told me the news, it was like a part of me died almost. But I must get over it.
Anyway, if some one can recommend a smith Im open to suggestions. I want someone with alot of expereince and does exceptionally nice work.

FLITLOCK, Michael Lea has done work for me in the past, and is one of the best.. He has lots experience, and does beautiful gunstock work, and is a wonderful engraver, he is highly recommended. email [email protected] Michael Lea, 2109 Summit St. Columbus, Ohio 43201 Ph.(614)291-4757 Good Luck, Best Regards, Michael Crum

I would like to recommend Steve Zihn, he is a friend of mine but also one of the finest flintlock rifle builders around. I have never heard any complaints on his work, and he builds for users and collectors all over the world. He can be reached at [email protected] .

I highly recommend,

 I would wholeheartedly recommend Roy Stroh for his excellence in workmanship and also in time wise

If yur a serious buyer and you sound like you are, as you must know "GOOD" builders ain't cheeeap or fast. On the other hand they represent some of the best values around, in pleasure of owning, shooting and more than not, a good monetary investment.
You've got quite a few to pick from. I would recommend goggling up "CLA artisans" and you'll get quite a list of fine builders to investigate. There some right here on this Forum. Cooner54, Mike Brooks, to name a couple.
Two of the finest on the high art end, combining carving, engraving etc.
I would check out Al Edge and afore mentioned Steve Zihn.

Tell me what style of gun you are interested in and what kind of price range and I can probably steer you in the right direction.
