Several years ago in a San Antonio gun shop a customer pulled a gun and attempted to rob the two (armed) employees. During the ensuing shootout the perp was severely wounded but survived. While in custody after leaving the hospital, his lawyer sent the gun shop owner a request for the name of his insurance company, his client wanted to file a claim for the injuries sustained in the "terrible accident" that occurred there.

@JTSpirit If thieves can't see your gun safe, they don't know where it is or even if you have one. If you want to show your guns to make your guests jealous, I'd suggest building a reinforced room with a display window as you described but have a moveable bookcase or wall in front of it. It can be built as an extra layer of protection with magnetic locks but easily moved to show your guns to distract your friends during game night.
