I have the Great Plains Rifle, and wouldn't even look at the Renegade as I hate the sights that T/C puts on their muzzleloaders.

As long as we're confessing, I have 2 hawkens, 3 renegades, a big bore, 2 Seneca, 1 Cherokee, 1 white mountain carbine, 1 buckeye carbine, 1 grey hawk and 1 Pennsylvania hunter. So, I guess I like TC's. I've never had a lock problem, or one that wouldn't shoot. They don't all have perfect bores but still shoot.
Nothing against the Lyman, I only have one, though.

Very true - and you can smooth out some of the pitting with a mild lapping of the barrel.
I restored a T/C Renegade that had not been cleaned in over 20 years and will call the barrel 'moderately' pitted but it shoots like new!
Thank you all for all the suggestions and inputs. If I can get off work early enough, I am going go try and do a 3rd inspection of the renegade. Hopefully I can get a hold of a bore light this time. Thanks again for all your help.
