I like my .50 GPR, except for the front sight. Too thick and covers up target at distance. Does anyone have any suggestions for a better front sight, vendors that have them? Thanks.

I have a rifle that has a really thick front sight and a tiny little notch for a rear sight. I hate the sight picture it gives. I also shoot it better than any rifle I own. {it's my medal winner} I have not {and will not} change the sights

I can shoot the rifle fairly well, I would like to see the targets (clay birds) at 100 yards instead of covering them up. Also, glad to hear you're from NY, I was raised near Albany.

I filed mine down(thinned it) to allow some light tru the sides of the rear sight

Open the rear sight with a jeweler's file, and leave the front sight alone. Imagine a fine line down the middle of it, and center that imagined line in your rear sight notch, and then align it with those clays."Aim fine, miss fine ", or something along that order. It works.

I replaced the sights on my GRP, front and rear, with these from Log Cabin Sport Shop:

I'm not 100% sure if the links I posted are the exact ones, but they are the same type. They work great for me.

Use the same on my Investarm/Lyman Hawken capgun. works pretty well.

That GPR factory front sight is a very common complaint. If possible - just order a a very short sight from TOTW or some other online source and replace the one that came with the gun. I found that an incredable amount of very careful file work to shorten the hight and narrow the front blade was most frustrating and not very productive. If you use a Dremmel ther is always the possibility that a slip will damage the barrel.

I got the same set strait from Lyman for my Trade rifle, and love them. They are the same sights that the Deerstalker comes with. I just thinned down the front sight some, and they work great for low light too.

If filing is to much of a hassel there should be some primitive thin blade sights available...those modern type as shown in the other posts really take a lot away from the looks of a nice gun like the LGP but if traditional gear is not your thing then that probably does not matter.

I fought this battle and the sight won.

I ended up with fiber/optic front and rear peep.

Not PC but absolutly deadly out to 115 yds.

I set this GPR up as a back up - rainy day rifle.

Turns out, CUZ it is so accurate, and easy to shoot, it has become one of my favorites.

Go figure

I had the same complaint on my GPRs. I took off the adjustable rear sight and put on the primitive rear sight that came with the rifle. The front sight fits in the notch of this rear sight perfectly  . The same setup Lyman has on their Trade Rifle. May not be a perfect match setup, but great for hunting.
