    @Angie
    @Zonie

    There is a handy forum tool that can be used the get someone's attention in a thread.

    Put a @ in front of their name and they will get an alert and be directed to the thread...

    Just though some may find it handy...

    Yup. Just copy the person's name. It works even if there's a space in it.

    Well, I see a @Zonie in the first post but I didn't receive any "alert" in my alert box and I didn't see anything that would indicate that someone alerted me to anything.
    Maybe my alert settings aren't set up right? If so, I suspect there are many other members who have settings similar to mine at the moment so they wouldn't get any alerts either.

    Well you'll have to check how you have your preferences set. All your user groups have unlimited alert notices. I did receive the alert notice with a little number beside the alert bell in the upper right hand corner of the page.

    Well, I don't "watch" any threads and I don't care if someone mentions my name or quotes something I said in their posts.
    No one comments on my profile page and I'm not sure I would care if they did.

    I guess the best way to get in touch with me is to send me a PM or conversation as it's called on the forum. I always get those. :)

    Well I didnt say anything about "watching threads, quoting messages or posting on your profile page" now did I?

    However, if someone posts a "DoDad" for sale in sgtprovos classifieds and I know my buddy SoNso is looking for one, I can just post a @SoNso in the comment line of the add he will be notified of the DoDad for sale. And any thread I want to draw SoNso's attention to for whatever reason.

    Maybe thats of no use to you, I could care less...just thought some may find it handy as I have not seen anyone using the function.

    Hey @Westbrook, getting "snippy" with mods usually does get you any browny points... Especially a new user.

    If you bothered to look at the options available in the choices available in the "Alert Preferences" area of your home on the forum you would notice that the things I mentioned are the things I or you can turn on or off.
    None of these seemed to be options to turn on or off members trying to get in touch with you using an "at" and persons name.

    The options available to me that I have turned on are for telling me someone "liked" my post, "posts on your profile" and "new follower".
    I don't know that they are working for me as I have over 1400 likes my posts and dozens of people who "follow" me and I don't recall getting any "alerts" about any of that.

    The main thing I was trying to tell people is, if they want to get in touch with me, send me a Conversation. Don't rely on an "at" symbol and the word Zonie.

    Hopefully this will explain why I said what I said.
