Eric Jay Dolin author, anyone read this book? There is a lot written on the fur trade as it extended from Montreal upriver into the Great lakes and then into NW Canada but not that much about the US (Ohio, Indiana, ILlinois, Mich, WISC, etc. and yet there are countless towns with French names. I'm trying to find a good history of the area.

I bought the book, but have not read it, it's on the bottom of the stack to be read.

The areas that you mention was more conducive to agriculture and civilization.
