I was looking for other sites to search for and post information, etc. and remembered a site whose name escaped me. Some extreme Googling located it. It is www.frontierfolk.net. Looking at post dates, it seems to show no recent activity, but I did get a password reset email. Anyone here know what's up with the site? Looks to have some interesting content.

It used to be a wealth of great history information with a lot of heavy hitters from the Colonial American period reeneacting/living history/experimental archeology community.
It has been dead for a while now, I think I remember something about the owner/administrator closing it or at least not updating or supporting it anymore. Unfortunately it was set up in a way that most older posts are not available anymore.
It's a shame.

I agree with @Brokennock on all points. It was a great forum. The last time I tried to go there, a couple of years ago, my computer’s firewall blocked it.

The Muzzleloader magazine “Campfire” forum is still viable, but it doesn’t get much traffic.
