WANTED French musket 1717-1728-1743

I don’t know if anyone but India builds that period of guns, you might check the rifle shop for parts

Alex Efremenko is the guy I think you’re thinking of. Not sure if he’s still building though.

There’s quite a few possibilities for a FdC, but not many nearly as affordable as the India ones. On the 1717 and 1728, I don’t think there are parts or locks in production like there are that work for trade guns. The Rifle Shoppe used to make castings and maybe assemble the locks. A lot of reenactors who owned the Indian ones thought they were ok to shoot, and some just figured they were good props. I know the 1728’s are historically accurate to the colonies, but I don’t think 1717’s were common (or there at all) at that time.

I don’t think it would take that long, the locks take the longest, thats what holds them up.

They just sent a 1754 Charleville to a buddy of mine in my reenactment group for me to build for him. He ordered it 5 months ago. The lock he ordered unassembled for me to build, so what holds up the order is lock assembly which can take 3-4 months to build.

The 1717 by was about 70 years old by the time of the American Revolutionary War, and was heavily used during the French and Indian War(s) . Most that were captured during the F&I War were sent over to the colonies as surplus for militia or private use.

While it’s uncommon to find a complete original 1717, it’s not uncommon to find 1717 parts on Americanized Fowler’s and muskets.
