Has anyone here done, or known someone who has done, a Compagnies Franches de la Marine impression? Any recommendations for resources on these guys? I have "Sketchbook '56 Vol. 2, The French Marines" but that's about it.

There is some info on this site, which Issac Walters (French in Wisconsin) used to host, but note he is dropping the site ‘someday’, link = Soldiers

Also see where he says he has archived every blog he ever made, link = Living in History - French in Wisconsin Archives

Issac is a history teacher and for years did awesome research into his French persona, but as of late he has discovered his Scottish roots and now runs around in kilts … so much so that he sold off his Fusil de Chasse!

I’m in the Northeast and tried doing ‘French’ for a few years, but I was the only one … too many dreaded Anglais around here, lol!

Arrow told me to call them, they had old stock and kits that had not been made.
That was last year so I have to believe they still have some.
One ringy dingy.....

Ouch … BEWARE … it was reported here & on other MZL Forums that the man who started the company had passed away and for a while … people were ordering mocs and such items and uhhhhh, well … were not getting them.

Online searches shows a few stories, plus this one where the daughter closed the business, but may have been selling off parts/kits only: Arrow Moccasin officially closes

I have done milicien and CfM for over 15 years. I do it as often as possible, because it involves a lot of travel for me. Just be careful of your sources and don't base your kit on what others use. Some are correct, some are not.

There was a group in the Michigan area doing it. Saw them at a few different history days type events. Haven't seen them in years.

Check out a guy named John Soule on FB. He commanded French Forces (mostly F&I) twenty + yrs. ago here in the NE and I think he'd be a treasure trove for you. He did an outstanding portrayal.
