I am currently reading "The Indian Wars" by Duane R. Lund. He has written several books. This book has a lot on La Verendrye 1734. Among the trade goods were clasp knives. I also found this site with a lot of good information:
https://scavengeology.com/french-folding-knives-a-k-a-clasp-knives-in-the-fur-trade/I don't know if anyone remembers the Quebec site that had a lot on French Fur Trade goods but is there a way to archive all this? I wish the information in that old site had been saved.

I love my Siamois.

I’ll have to check that book by Lund out. I’ve paddled to the island where the Sioux took the heads of Verendrye’s son and his party. Great area to canoe.
