What's the best rabbit, squirrel, opossum gun? Something to take their heads off and not tear up meat.

I have a bp revolver for back up shots and protection.
I have a Senica in .36 cal that I will be putting a .45 barrel on for deer season.
But what's a good bp small game gun, Fowler or small call rifle?
If the answer is Fowler then which one?

A small caliber rifle may be better, but I’m not a good shot so I would probably use a fowler or smooth rifle in .62 or even .58 using shot. As far as style if I wanted a fowler I would probably use a Virginia, New England fowler, or a Fusil, if I wanted a smooth rifle, It would be either a early Bucks county or Early Bethlehem style

Considering that you already have the 36 Seneca, the Seneca is the firearm of choice. If you are unsure of shot placement, then a 24 gauge (58 caliber) smooth rifle is worth considering for rabbit, squirrel, or opossum.
