Well, Claude didn't shoot me after my first post, (or was he the one on the walker? :-D ) so...lemme try again and issue an invitation to all reenactors. Some of you might have already seen this but hey...good things bear repeating. ;-)
Please feel free to pass the link along.

This year during the Fort Lee Scouts annual harvest fest at Fort Randolph, we will
be presenting seminars on several different topics of interest to reenactors. The camp fee is nominal and folks can either set up inside the fort, as space allows, or out around the perimeter. Plenty of room for all, native and Virginian.

Hope to see everyone there.
It's one of the last camps in the area for the fall and would be a great way to begin winter hibernation.

Now for those who might have heard eronous reports of the event, please bear with me while I repost a letter:

It is indeed discouraging when you put so much time and effort into developing a program only to have it undermined. hopefully unintentionally, by a lay person who is either by choice or by omission, not well informed.

Firstly, let me say that the Fort Lee Scouts portray the frontiers people of the Western Va Frontier, namely that area of Ky/Oh and WV that is of importance to the Ohio and Kanawha rivers. We are not limited to knowledge of that area but most of our events center around those geographical areas. We do not have a militia that drills and acts as an organized military body. We do a number of historical presentations for the public and for area schools during the year but our October event is not geared for this activity.

Evidently a lay person, that meaning someone not involved in reenacting but who is on the facilities board at the Fort, is distributing misinformation that our October program is little more than a normal day of sitting around the Fort and that the highlight of the day is the meal...

*sigh*

Frustration thy name speaks before thee thinks...

Our Frontier Studies weekend is a three day event. We're starting on Friday evening after folks have had time to unpack and find supper and we will be continuing with our sessions, lectures, discussions..whatever you choose to call them, until Sunday afternoon. We can not keep the public from entering but they will be paying the same fee as campers if they wish to remain for the sessions. Our meal, yes is a highlight! LOL I've yet to see a bunch of campers who don't enjoy a good feast, but it
